Emma Watson
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents, Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson both lawyers. At age five, she moved to Oxfordshire and went to Dragon School. Emma was aware from the age of she was six that wanted to be an actress. For a number years she studied at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch which was where she learned acting, singing, dancing and much more. She was a stagecoach actor and performed as the role of the lead in a number of Stagecoach productions. In 1999 the casting process began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) which was the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by her Oxford theater teacher and introduced casting agents to Emma. After eight auditions David Heyman informed Emma and Rupert Grint that they were chosen to play Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. Emma's first screen appearance in a cinema was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film broke records for opening day sales and weekend take-offs and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The performances of the film and of its three young stars were well-received by the critics. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely distributed, praised Emma's performance as "admirable." Emma received five awards for her performance in the movie, including the Young Artist Award, for Leading Young Actress In a feature Film. Emma was one of the most well-known actors following the success of the film. She continued to portray the role as Hermione Granger for a total of 10 years, in all of the following Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). Emma has received two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
